About
Rohani Le Rossignol has always been a creative person. Drawing her favourite animals - horses, birds and squirrels were her early memories. Sewing giant loquat leaves into a skirt on her mums sewing machine and drawing Garfield on her classmates’ tennis racquets at lunchtime led to Rohani dreaming of becoming a vet, jockey or book illustrator.
Rohani studied graphic design and fashion design before working in the fashion industry. After becoming a mother, she realised she needed a creative outlet around her new lifestyle and so RoEnArt - “Ro is in the mood for Art” in French – was born.*
RoEnArt textiles are based directly on Rohani’s endearing watercolour and procreate illustrations centering around her fascination for birds and animals, and the conservation of the beautiful creatures we share our world with. They are then turned into repeat patterns in Photoshop and digitally printed.
The textile side of her brand has been in recent hiatus while Rohani explores oil painting as her main medium - creating joyful, colour drenched contemporary still life paintings - often including her own textile designs and beautiful home grown or “souvenired” flora, and of course many of the native birds she sees around her. While oil painting is currently her primary creative outlet, she is hoping to return to her much loved textiles soon.
Rohani resides in the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula - the ocean, picturesque landscape, plants and wildlife a constant source of inspiration. She is represented by Eagles Nest Gallery, was featured in Bluethumb’s 10 emerging nature artists to watch in 2025, and was selected as finalist in the Small Works Art Prize 23 at Hoop Gallery and Omnia Art Prize 23.
