A small still-life study capturing the colour and joy of wattle season in a humble vintage pickle jar.
I found this specimen of lace-like black wattle in beautiful Wallington near Ocean Grove - my go-to for collecting native samples. The streets have been lined with clouds of gorgeous golden yellow this last few weeks - such a delight to see in late winter after so much cold and grey.
This one has more of an impressionist vibe than my other paintings - I think because of the tiny flowers and thin feathery leaves - but that’s ok - every painting is different and captures the character of the flower in it’s own special way 🌼
